Quality Control

Zarlux Saffron maintains strict measures for quality control to ensure the utmost satisfaction of our customers. In doing so, we are proud to have obtained the FDA and CE seals of approval while also adhering to pertinent ISO standards including ISO 9001, ISO 10004, ISO 22000, and ISO 3632. Additionally, our products meet Halal standards set out by the ICRIC.

ISO 22000

The ISO 22000 standard is a standard for food safety management systems targeted for organizations active in any stage of the production of food products. This includes those involved in agriculture, food transportation, production, packaging, or food service industries. 

ISO 22000 is in place to ensure contamination-free food production. Careful monitoring and control allow for the prevention and elimination of three types of pollutants including those of microbial, chemical, and physical standards.

ISO 3632

Saffron, the unique Iranian spice has been welcomed around the world due to its wonderful taste, color, aroma, and its wide and beneficial range of use. Given the specific geographical and climatic conditions required for growing and harvesting saffron, much of the saffron used by consumers globally are provided by Iranian producers. Additionally, with its wide range of use and high selling price, saffron consumers place the utmost importance on the quality of the purchased product. As market competition grows in Iran and European countries, so do the quality and accuracy in the stages of planting, harvesting, and packing saffron. 

For producers and consumers concerned about saffron quality, the International Standard Organization developed a standard for saffron in 1993, specifically to ensure saffron quality. The ISO 3632 standard has been developed in two parts; saffron crop characteristics, saffron quality test, and testing methods.

The ISO 3632 standard has been translated in Iran by the National Standardized Translation Agency and numbers 1-259 and 2-259 are subject to the national standards list. The ISO 3632 standard describes methods for measuring and analyzing color strength, taste, and determining the degree of purity of saffron.

ISO 10004

The international ISO 10004 standard provides further regulation for enhancing performance in monitoring and measuring customer satisfaction. Adhering to ISO 10004 facilitates Zarlux Saffron in ensuring the continual improvement of the quality of our products, services, and processes based on feedback from customers and relevant stakeholders.

ISO 9001

ISO 9001:2015 outlines international requirements for a quality management system that demonstrates Zarlux’s consistent ability to provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. By operating under this standard, we work hard to guarantee and enhance customer satisfaction by implementing appropriate quality management measures.

FDA– United States

The FDA seal indicates that Zarlux Saffron products meet the safety guidelines outlined by the Food and Drug Administration of the United States of America. The FDA is responsible for maintaining the quality and health of food products sold in the US by monitoring food and drug safety. Our FDA approved products are available for import to the United States.

Halal

The Zarlux Saffron Halal certificate is issued by the Halal World Institute, which cooperates with the ICRIC (Islamic Chamber Research & Information Center). The premier objective of Halal World is the development of Halal culture among Muslims in non-Islamic communities with Muslim minorities by establishing necessary regulations for distinguishing Halal goods and services from non-Halal ones. This objective is met through specified procedures for the production process and quality control, warehousing, transportation, and consumption. Hence, the expected standards are entirely in compliance with Islamic Sharia.

CE – European Union

The CE marking is an indication that all Zarlux products and manufacturing processes meet appropriate guidelines per legislation implemented by specific European Directives. This allows us to make Zarlux Saffron products accessible to a range of European markets by guaranteeing high standards of quality and safety of our products.
